Loft Conversion and Internal Changes Project in Chesham

The client wanted to open up the ground floor by removing two internal walls and turn the loft into a bright, usable living space. To meet the client’s expectations, we started by carefully assessing the structure. Removing internal walls required careful planning to maintain stability, so we designed and installed structural beams to carry the load from the walls and ceilings above. We also encountered another key challenge: the existing staircase between the first floor and the loft was far too steep and didn’t comply with building regulations. To solve this, we designed new timber supports and introduced a safer, regulation-compliant staircase.To ensure the loft could handle everyday use as a functional room, we also replaced the original loft floor joists with stronger ones, capable of supporting the increased load.
